Skype Prime appears to have caved under the competition and they are shutting down the SkypePrime service. Skype had launched a competitor service to PremiumTalk in 2007 which allowed pay per call providers to use their skype back end. Skype charged a commission for each call and had limits on what types of services you could offer. It appears Skype is pulling out siting technical problems. Ofcourse we like to think it was because they had a hard time competing with PremiumTalk and our low low fees (currently Free!). Free is a pretty powerful word and that has allowed us to grow without doing any marketing. We are the best kept secret on the internet!

So with Skype pulling out of the race it looks like bitwine is one of the few competitors left in this space and they also appear to be on wobbly legs. Meanwhile PremiumTalk is growing stronger. Our parent company, Interactive Ideas, has several other success software products on the market such as our short sale software Captaloans.

We anticipate strong growth in all our products in 2010 and are very excited about some partnership deals in the work with PremiumTalk that will hopefully benefit our users with an array of new features. We look forward to the new year and want to wish everyone a happy holidays.

Pay per Call works by advertising your businesses phone number alongside your Pay-per-Click sponsored results listing on select search engines or pay for inclusion web sites or blogs.

When a customer clicks on your advertisement a window will pop up where the customer enters their name and phone number. The advertiser is charged for the phone call lead once the call has been made and received by the customer.

BENEFITS - The advertisers only pay for calls made instead of just clicks received. The leads received are direct contact with customer which give you chance to close. Using the area code where the customer is calling from you can tailor specific services or products based on their geographic location.

Canada has long been a progressive country. PremiumTalk allows free calling to all areas of Canada, except the Yukon. That area of Canada is a still a mystery to us! Anyway, we have been a rush of Canadian individuals and companies signing up for PremiumTalk. Part of it may be a new government initiative to encourage home based workers. Here is a recent article.

A weeklong study of 170 team members at Telus who telework showed 14,000 hours of commuting saved, $125,000 savings for fuel and maintenance of vehicles, and 114 tonnes of emissions saved.

Ald. Diane Colley-Urquhart, the city’s deputy mayor, said the initiative will change the way Calgarians work, where they work and how they work.

“By reducing traffic and infrastructure pressures, pollution levels and our overall environmental footprint, Calgarians and their employers will be able to improve their productivity and consequently their bottom line while making more time to enjoy our city’s one-of-a-kind lifestyle,” she said.

The initiative says benefits for the employer include increased employee productivity, decreased operating expenditures, increased competitiveness, a boost in corporate image as an environmental steward and diminished business disruption during an emergency.

The benefits for an employee include enhanced productivity both at work and at home, money savings for gas, vehicles, parking, dry cleaning and other expenses, more free time, improved health and well-being, and reduced stress.

More information can be found on the website workshiftcalgary.com.

When marketing your on-line business, consider what need or desire you are filling for your customers.

When you are aware of basic buying motives, you are well equipped to attract customers. Review this list of motives. Make note of 6 different sales approaches you would use to sell your service, based on each of these buying motivations. The examples given here don’t refer to anything specific-so you can complete the dialogue to match your offerings. If you find that some motives don’t align with your business, then you need to target the demographic that is most often motivated by what you are selling. For instance, if you are a trip adviser, your focus may be pleasure motivated people. If you sell click to call financial advice, you may target those motivated by gain or profit. Those motivated by approval may be interested in the trendiest things. If you sell exercise equipment, you’ll market to those concerned with pride, but maybe not as much to those who care more about pain avoidance or seeking pleasure.

I. Gain or Profit They want to save money or make a profit.

“We will save you 150.00 per year”

II. Fear of Loss People seeking safety, protecting property, health maintenance and future security.

“We guarantee you will feel healthier with regular use.”

III. Pleasure Seeking enjoyment, convenience, comfort, luxury, admiration from peers.

“This is the most convenient way to go”

IV. Avoidance of Pain. They want security, less work, pain relief, less worry.

“You will be relieved to know that you no longer need to be in pain”

V. Pride. Desire to possess, advance in skill, become a better person, have style, high quality, prestige

“All your friends will rave about it”

VI. Desire of Approval. A craving for social acceptance, affection, learning, imitation of others who they consider more socially acceptable

“Your family will really love you”

Sometimes you can determine a person’s main motivators just by thinking about them, conversations you’ve had with them…If you aren’t sure, try a few-watch and see what makes them “perk up and take notice” and what bores them-emphasize the features of your product that fit with their main motives. Tailor your approach to the right motives and your sales will definitely increase.
